Shannon Powell
Collegiate Director
Rev. Shannon K. Powell has over 25 years of ministry experience and has been faithfully serving the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout the Greater Charlotte Metro area since 2003. He and his wife, Miena, are both products of the ministry and are currently serving FCA through ministry at Wingate University in Wingate, NC.
Shannon is a native of Anderson, SC and an alum of Westside High School. Miena was born and raised in Albemarle, NC where she attended West Stanly High School. Shannon and Miena attended Mars Hill University (’99) where they met and became College Sweethearts. They were married after graduation (’99) and now have two remarkable children, Elijah and Preston whom they personally homeschool at their very own Etch Academy (est. 2012).
In addition to pursuing her passions of both music and education, Miena loves serving alongside Shannon as the FCA Wingate University Administrative Assistant, and sharing the benefits of healthy living through her Simple Healthy Living 365 wellness coaching.
Shannon enjoys preaching, speaking and teaching (literally around the world) as he shares the Gospel. He is also currently in the process of publishing his first book (Leadership Lab). As for the boys, you’ll most likely find them enjoying the great outdoors as they love fishing, playing golf and baseball. The family makes their home in Monroe, NC.
It is an honor and privilege to see the Lord at work all around us on the campus of Wingate University!
God is clearly showing us evidence that there is so much more work to be done.
As a complete faith-funded ministry, every donation is used to engage, equip, and empower coaches and athletes with the Word of God. We need more resources and staff to continue building a legacy for Christ for the days ahead. The harvest is great and we long to continue moving forward in faithful obedience to His leading in every step!
